Scene 1 - The picture from my FB post regarding "Humanity Wins Again! Punjab Gurudwara Provides Food To Madrasa Students Stuck Due To Lockdown." Even while the community langar is the age old Sikh tradition, it was something beyond that, if one cares to understand. Well, one may or may not appreciate it... and perhaps there is nothing wrong in advising them about social distancing; but would you like to punish them for not ensuring social distancing? Just think about it!
Scene 2 - It is from the news story titled "Case registered against Majnu ka Tilla Gurdwara committee for violating lockdown order". My question follows from the Scene 1. What is this FIR about? Were these people hiding there? Were they invited for some religious congregation? Were any anti-social speeches made? Did they try to lock themselves in? Did they flee to different parts of the country? Did they misbehave with police / medical staff? I don't know whether the FIR is for a mere technicality or a balancing act to show that the police acts irrespective of religion / community lines. If it is so, the authorities are highly mistaken. No balancing act will be able to placate the people, who are habitual of crying victimization at any opportunity. It makes sense to act with conviction with no fear of unreasonable criticism.
We are not living in a country like Afghanistan, where the Sikhs praying for the welfare of ALL are fired upon and killed by the human bastards. We cannot let India become a blind Banana Republic. There is a need to ensure the rule of law AND reasoning - beyond stupid technicalities.
It is expected from the concerned authorities to be LOGICAL, REASONABLE and PRACTICAL in such sensitive cases. Are they listening?
